Charlotte Jr. Checkers 2016 -2017 Travel Program

The Charlotte Jr. Checkers travel teams compete in the USA Hockey Tier II classification and are members of the Carolinas Hockey League (CHL). The Jr. Checkers will field teams at the Squirt 10U (2006 & 2007 birth years), Peewee 12U (2004 & 2005 birth years), Bantam 14U (2002 & 2003 birth years), 16U (2000 & 2001 birth years) and 18U (1998 & 1999 birth years).

The team's CHL games, in addition to strong tournament and non-league schedules, form a competitive environment for the players to gain experience as well as to test their progress as individuals and as a team.  As proponents of USA Hockey’s American Development Model, the Jr. Checkers utilize quality ice time that values practices and proper training above all else.  Some principles of the program include pursuing age-specific Long-Term Athlete Development, a greater practice-to-game ratio, and a sense of "community" within the club to help its participants become better hockey players and good citizens.
